There are so many ways to create a video. Sure you can take your Iphone X and turn it on yourself, speak, post to your audience and boom! you have a video right at your fingertips, anytime and anywhere. With today's culture and audience on social media you can see so many random videos that go viral and attract so much attention.
Video is everywhere! Even in the little pop-ups from time to time, there is no escaping unless you literally hide yourself under a rock in the middle of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Take this into consideration: A video view on social media counts at 3 seconds. So basically as someone is scrolling through their phone and the video starts to automatically play, for those couple of seconds it counts as a view. So how many millions of 3 second views have happened with viral videos? Not too good for engagement is it? Why spend so much time on something that you lose engagement from an audience?
People buy stories, not products
What is that content that engages people? While there have been some unique ways on social media that speak about a product through witty and quirky ways, most of the time, people will not sit through what you have to sell them. Creating high Quality video content
When people ask how much it takes to make a "high quality" video, they are usually left in shock . So let's break it down it down for you and what Southern Utah Production can offer your business, brand or product. First off, there are two important things that affect the total coast of production:
1. Number of locations: In general, the more locations your production requires, the more days it will take to shoot.
2. Shoot length: The more days it takes to shoot, the more hours it will require, and therefore, the more it will cost.
Can you imagine for a moment, if your business, brand or product was run by one person? You? I am pretty sure a shudder went through your body and you immediately had a distaste in your mouth. You could never imagine running your business by yourself. A business built for success takes a team. A sports team does not work by one person only, it is a team effort. So it is with video production.
-There is the initial idea, a concept that starts with someone who is great at writing and painting a picture or vision through words. This script becomes a guiding point for the rest of production. To further this idea, it may even be necessary to storyboard so you, the client, can visualize what each shot would look like.
-Then there would be the planning of shoot dates and equipment needed. Did you know it is possible and fairly inexpensive to work with Hollywood caliber cameras and equipment? When you go through the process of building your video, much like you would build a house. No one in their right mind would simply go construct a house without first counting the costs. Why would building a video that will be housed on the internet be any different. When it comes to the internet videos stick and most times will never find their way off the internet. It is a pretty permanent thing, that is, unless the internet entirely goes down and nobody is expecting that :)
-Renting the equipment, scheduling dates and then moving towards finding the right actors/spokesperson/talent to bring your message and vision to life. These are real people, with real bills, much like you. Nobody, who takes production seriously will work pro-bono for exposure and when that be the case, that exposure is really small because, let's be brutally honest, your exposure as a business is not entirely there. That, is why you are wanting a video in the first place.
-Director, Producer, Director of Photography (DP), Gaffer, Grip, Sound mixer/operator, Production Assistant (PA). These people are the core of a well-oiled production crew, and they’re almost always required on set. Generally speaking, the bigger the crew, the more expensive the video will be. If you’ve ever sat through the end credits of a superhero movie, you know what I’m talking about.
Regardless of crew size, one thing stays the same: GOOD PEOPLE COST MONEY.
