AI Will Replace Execution — Not InsightArtificial intelligence can:
Insight is becoming premium. Artificial intelligence has permanently altered the production landscape. Today, AI can write scripts in seconds, assemble rough cuts, color grade footage, generate thumbnails, optimize titles, and repurpose long-form content into dozens of short clips. Tasks that once required hours of technical labor can now be completed in minutes. The barrier to entry has collapsed — and execution has become increasingly automated. But automation is not authorship. AI can analyze patterns, but it cannot sit across from a founder and sense hesitation in their voice when they describe why they started. It cannot read the cultural texture of a Southern Utah community, understand the weight of legacy in a family-run business, or recognize when a brand’s true strength lies beneath what they think they’re selling. It cannot navigate local politics, investor dynamics, nonprofit missions, or economic development goals with emotional intelligence. Insight requires proximity. It requires conversation, intuition, listening between the lines, and translating lived experience into narrative structure. It requires understanding how story aligns with revenue, trust, and long-term positioning. Execution is becoming commoditized. Insight is becoming premium. The production companies that survive — and thrive — will not compete on who edits faster. They will compete on who understands deeper. They will be the ones who extract vision, refine message, and architect stories that resonate beyond the algorithm. Because while AI can generate content, only humans can generate meaning.

For as long as I can remember, Southern Utah has been home for me, filmmaker and entrepreneur Dan Fowlks. The dramatic red cliffs, wide-open deserts, and close-knit communities didn’t just shape my upbringing—they shaped my entire creative journey.
This personal connection became the building block of Desert Vibe Media. I recognized that businesses in Southern Utah—and beyond—needed more than just flashy videos. They needed branding that resonated. They needed content that elevated their online presence. And they needed a creative team who genuinely care about capturing what makes them unique. Today, the company specializes in business branding, video production, and content creation for organizations looking to strengthen their social media engagement, polish their websites, or simply tell their stories in a compelling way. From small startups to well-established local favorites, Desert Vibe Media helps businesses connect with audiences in an authentic, visually striking format. One of the aspects that sets Desert Vibe Media apart is its collaborative spirit. I've always believed that creativity thrives in community, so I intentionally work with a broad network of local creatives—cinematographers, editors, designers, musicians, and storytellers. That collaborative approach ensures each project feels fresh, engaging, and aligned with the client’s vision. Among the company’s most meaningful projects is its ongoing video series, Southern Utah Voices, that started with Bradshaw Chevrolet in 2021. This series shines a spotlight on the diverse individuals, entrepreneurs, organizations, and dreamers who make Southern Utah such a vibrant place to live. Each episode gives viewers a deeper look into the people behind the businesses and stories behind the headlines, fostering a deeper sense of connection within the community.
-Dan fowlksThrowing this back to 2020 when the height of censorship on social media was rampant. We teamed up with Gungroup.com to create a witty fun commercial that lends information and a sense of wit for their platform. USA! We scripted this, found our gun palace locally and was able to shoot in the desert. Commercial shoot, that is.

Art is important and it shows how beautifully insignificant we all are. Our observations about what we see through a variety of different perspectives as to what scares us, what is beauty, what inspires us and so on. I am convinced that the beauty of southern Utah not only shows off it's variety of colors and beauty everyday. It also attracts the beauty in people. Culturally, say what you want about southern Utah or Utah in general. One thing is for certain. Beauty and the people that bring that out does exist and it's subtle. You have to be the one to open the ears of your heart to see it, feel it and hear it. Shooting historyIt was an honor to work with Silver Reef Historical society, Arts to Zion and many others in bringing a glimpse of this story to life. This 25 minute short portrays these two gentlemen (Father Scanlan, John Macfarlane) and their unifying efforts in having a Catholic Mass at the St George LDS Tabernacle in 1879. History, in a funny way repeated itself as we were seeking permission to shoot in the Tabernacle to film what we needed in order to tell this story. After being declined 3 times for access to shoot in the Tabernacle we were allowed to have a day to get all the shots we needed. Thank you to the St George Chamber Singers for learning the version of Peters Mass in D, it was a great moment to see this recreated in the very place that happened nearly 143 years ago. With about 6 months of planning, writing the scenes that we wanted to tell. We feel it is a great piece to be shared and bring more awareness to the common goal of uniting through differences rather than be divided by differences. Desert Vibe Media would like to thank Ben Braten at Utah Tech Film for their assistance with some additional equipment. A handful of Utah Tech Film students (Ethan, Ava, Joe and Marcus) for their growing expertise and skills, Hans Glassman, Jason Kelly, Keith Owen, Tara Clark (for locations), Jeremy Bird (custom wardrobe), Jonah and Jessica Lavelle, Staci Martin with St George Musical Theater wardrobe warehouse and Kimberlee Davis for our horse wrangler. Share your knowledge and expertiseRecently we worked with a Brow and Lashes company to create an in-depth training course. Tutorials are extremely popular right now, especially with the rise of TikTok where "How To" videos are gaining viewership and interest. We can help you outline a training course or a series of "How To" videos for your company or product. The process is tedious and time consuming in order to script out the course of what you would like your viewer to understand and learn. This process can be highly valuable to your company or product or even online Pay Per View training courses. We understand your knowledge doesn't come cheap. It has taken much of your time, efforts and frustrations to learn your trade and skills.
11/19/2020 The Murder of Michael Carbis and Thomas Forrest in Washington, Utah Territory 1880Read NowThis year we produced a story with Silver Reef Foundation and Arts to Zion in re-telling "The Michael Carbis Story". Only 140 years ago the history of this area is rich with gritty western stories, the type of stories you only think are contrived from "Hollywood". Being able to dig into this history and shoot in the same locations where this event happened was very somber and puts things into an interesting perspective. Working with others creatives in this area we were able to commit to video a vision of old town Silver Reef with amazing CGI renderings. Be sure to look for the video soon :)
Get ready for an event unlike any other in Southern Utah! "Baloo across Quail Lake". Chewi Lockhart is prepping really hard for this fantastical feat of lazily floating from one end of the lake to the other. Please go to www.improvdixie.com to see where you can help sponsor the event. The proceeds go towards bringing a legitimate comedy theater to southern Utah.
